The Rule of Seven is an fresh imagination for the formation of new monastic community. It is rooted in the story of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This story in itself is the climax of a larger story: God who is calling a people to be the new creation, an alternative humanity.
There are a lot of valuable monastic rules out there, both ancient and new. We draw our inspiration from them. But the Rule of Seven has some novelties: It has a patern of seven theme’s and simple colours. So it can be used throughout the week or as an tool for spiritual formation. The centre of the symbol shows the center of the grand narrative: we find our identity as a community in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Rule of Seven is “open source”. Currently some churches and christian organisations are working on it as we speak. Please join our conversation.
